Localised strikes by the Communication Workers Union (CWU) have been taking place recently in several cities including London, and the CWU estimates that there now remains a backlog of more than 20 million letters and parcels in London alone. The Royal Mail puts the figure at 9 million UK-wide, of which six million are in London. Whatever the figure, the danger over the coming weeks is that we will have personal and business mail seriously delayed and, at worst, lost. The CWU is now planning a UK-wide national walkout unless Royal Mail agreed to stop all redundancies, and is sending out ballot papers to members of the main postal union. The result of this ballot is due to be known on 8th or 9th October. Stafftax is re-planning its processing schedule to try to ensure that your employee’s payslips reach you by post before any major disruption occurs. However the possibility is that your payslips may get delayed either through more localised strikes, or through a National strike. We would like to remind you that there is a clear alternative to receiving the payslips by post. Following the recent launch of the new Stafftax website and extended Members Area, you can now download, save and print your employee’s payslips in the privacy of your own home. The payslips are placed on the website each month at the same time as your payslips would be sent out. This gives the added security that they do not get lost in the post, even when the post is working normally. Please do log onto the Members' Area on the Stafftax website now to see all of the new features. Keep visiting as further additional features are planned in the near future. |
